Celebrity Cruises is now being impacted by Hurricane Dorian with a change for the Celebrity Equinox cruise ship out of Fort Lauderdale.
Celebrity Cruises Hurricane Dorian Update
As we continue to cover all the major cruise line itinerary changes due to Hurricane Dorian Celebrity Cruises can now be added to the list. Celebrity Equinox which is based out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida has been forced to depart an hour earlier than originally scheduled.
The ship embarkation process is starting at 10:30 AM today and the ship will leave Port Everglades at 2:30 PM instead of 3:30 PM. The cruise line is making sure the Soltice-class vessel stays ahead of any potential weather impact to keep guests and crew safe.
Here are the full details from Celebrity Cruises:
As you may be aware, Hurricane Dorian is forecast to affect South Florida this weekend. In order to depart Fort Lauderdale ahead of any adverse weather, we will be departing one hour earlier at 2:30 PM on Saturday, August 31st. We will begin boarding at 10:30 AM, so please plan on arriving to the pier early to help expedite our check-in process.Â
All guests must be on board 60 minutes prior to our scheduled departure. We’ll continue to keep a close eye on the weather conditions. If we need to make any changes to your itinerary, we will let you know as soon as we can. Your safety and the safety of our crew is our primary concern.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation, and we look forward to providing you an amazing vacation.
Compared to other cruise lines such as Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Line the impact to Celebrity is very small and guests will still be able to enjoy their scheduled 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise.
The itinerary includes calls at San Juan, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Nassau. By the time the ship visits the ports, Hurricane Dorian will already be moving up north along the Florida east coast. Celebrity Equinox will arrive back home as normal on September 7.
