Carnival Elation Cruise Ship Suffers From Power Outage

Carnival Elation experienced a series of power outages, and at the moment no one knows what caused the ship to lose power. The mishap caused the ship to arrive slightly later than usual back at its home port In Jacksonville, Florida on Monday.

Carnival sent out the following statement:

“The cruise ship Carnival Elation experienced a short power outage starting at around 1:45 a.m. this morning. The ship’s technicians promptly restored power and the ship is expected to arrive at its homeport of Jacksonville at approximately 9:30 a.m. this morning, slightly behind schedule.”

Here’s a scary thought floating on a powerless cruise ship in the middle of the ocean, that’s exactly what happened aboard Carnival Elation. According to passengers the ship experienced a power outage which lasted at least an hour not far from Florida’s east coast. Technicians moved quickly to fix the problem and the U.S. Coast Guard checked the vessel before its scheduled departed on Monday.

Some passengers panicked and grabbed life jackets then headed on out to the open decks.

The incident occurred at 1:45am Monday morning, and caused the cruise ship to arrive late at the port of Jacksonville. The schedule arrival time was for 9:30am on May 30, but due to the power outages the ship arrived at 10:20am. After being nearly an hour late upon arriving to Jacksonville, FL. When passengers began disembarking the vessel they began describing what happened aboard the cruise ship.

Carnival Elation is a 70,367 gross ton vessel with a passenger capacity of 2,052. Carnival stated the cause of the power outage was a short, but didn’t make any further statements. Cruise Hive previously reported on Fathom having a common incident. It’s seems Carnival Corp. is having a rough week, but that won’t deter the cruise liner from sending Carnival Elation on another 5 day cruise.
