The Carnival Victory has departed the United States and heading for her 38-day dry dock transformation into the Carnival Radiance.
Farewell to the Carnival Victory
The Carnival Victory has departed the United States for the very last time and is now heading towards Cadiz, Spain her much-anticipiated transformation into the Carnival Radiance.
The vessel departed on Monday afternoon from PortMiami after completing a 30-day voyage which included a call in Nassau, Bahamas. She will begin a 38-day dry dock at the shipyard in Cadiz, Spain on March 19 with team members and contractors working around the clock to completely transform the 102,000-ton Carnival ship with new features and a new name, she’ll be a totally new vessel.
During the huge $200 million dry dock the ship will be stripped out with fresh new refurbished cabins and decor. One of the biggest highlights will be the first Big Chicken restaurant at sea by Carnival’s Chief Fun Officer Shaquille O’Neal.
The bow-to-stern makeover will also include a new RedFrog Pub, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse, Cucina Capitano, Bonsai Sushi and fresh new feel to all public areas.
Here is the complete list of major upgrades and new features:

The ship will debut her new look as the Carnival Radiance with a 10-day cruise from Barcelona, Spain on April 29, 2020. The Sunshine-class vessel will sail a series of cruises out of the Spanish city before arriving in New York City on June 25.
Carnival Radiance will offer eastern Caribbean and Bermuda sailings from the Big Apple before repositioning to Norfolks in October 2020 and then finally Port Canaveral, Florida to sail Caribbean cruises starting on November 8, 2020.
All this means the name Carnival Victory will be no more just like her sister ships the Carnival Destiny which was transformed into Carnival Sunshine in 2013 and the Carnival Triumph which was transformed into the Carnival Sunrise in 2019. Carnival Victory entered service in 2000 for Carnival Cruise Line and was built by Fincantieri in Italy.
