Carnival Sunshine which is operated by Carnival Cruise Line celebrated its inaugural call at Portland, Maine during its Canada and New England sailing.
To mark the occasion a celebration was held onboard the 103,900 gross ton vessel. A traditional maritime plaque exchange between the ship’s officers and port officials took place. Inaugural plaques are usually displayed in a public area on the ship where guests and crew can take a look. That’s not all, port officials also presented local lobsters which were then prepared for a special dinner onboard.
The 3,000 passenger Carnival Sunshine called at Portland as part of a 7-day fall foliage cruise that departed New York on September 10. The ship is calling in Saint John today and then Halifax on September 15 before arriving back in New York on the September 15.
In October the ship will reposition for a winter season out of Port Canaveral, Florida. The vessel will sail a range of Eastern and Southern Caribbean itineraries.
