Carnival Cruise Line Will Focus on Domestic Sailings in Australia

Two Carnival cruise ships that are based down under will shift to more domestic cruise offerings rather than international cruises.

Our thoughts go out to the crew of the Carnival Horizon as the entertainment department has lost one of their own. As a result, the Playlist Productions shows have been canceled for one cruise.

Entertainment Member Lost

We are sad to post and inform our readers which also includes fellow crew members across the industry that an unnamed crew member took her own life on the Carnival Horizon. This apparently happened during the December 29 sailing.

The news first came out on a Facebook post here and included was a letter sent out from entertainment director Hugo Hidalgo. The letter didn’t mention the passing of the staff member but did state there would be no Playlist Productions shows during the cruise. You can read it in full below:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this weeks cruise will not have Playlist Productions cast onboard. We have made arrangements for guest entertainment and special shows to replace our regular offerings. We appreciate your understanding and certain you will enjoy the many options we have planned for you this week.

Our team is dedicated to making sure you have a vacation filled with lots of fun and incredible entertainment.

Losing a fellow workmate is very hard indeed and hopefully, all the guests onboard can understand their reason for not being in the right state of mind to perform and entertain others.

The cast likely disembarked the ship when Carnival Horizon was at PortMiami yesterday, January 6. There was probably not enough time to find a replacement cast as practice and a lot of preparation would need to be done before a cast can work together for a show.

It is not known if the cast is just taking some much needed time out for the week after losing their friend or a new cast will join the ship for the January 12 sailing out of Miami, Florida.

Carnival Horizon is the second Vista-class vessel and is currently sailing a 6-night western Caribbean itinerary. The ship is calling In Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel before returning to Miami on Saturday morning.

Our thoughts go out to the crew member who passed away in which must be a very difficult time for family, friends and fellow Carnival cruise ship team members.

A crew member was also lost from the ship back in August 2018. An Indian team member was found in his cabin after a party onboard the night before.
