Carnival Horizon in the Final Stages, What’s Next?

Let's see what is happening with the Carnival Horizon at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. Now that the ship is in the final stages what's still to come?

If you’re excited about the newest Carnival cruise ship then don’t worry because Carnival Horizon is arriving in just a few months. The cruise ship is currently under construction and we’ve got our hands on some stunning photos while at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.

What’s Happening to Carnival Horizon Right Now?

Before you drool over the latest construction photos of Carnival Horizon let’s find out what’s going on right now at the shipyard and what to expect in the coming weeks and months. The ships external construction was completed a while back when it was floated out onto the water for the very first time.

This means at the moment workers are constructing the interior spaces including public spaces, specialty venues, hallways and more. Inside the vessel will be a hive of activity as it begins to look more like a floating hotel. On Cruise Hive we’ll even be providing you with exclusive photos and footage before even entering service so keep an eye out for all of that.

Carnival Horizon has already completed most of its construction milestone including the keel laying, float out and sea trials. We’ve covered the upcoming Carnival ship extensively on Cruise Hive but still, there is so much to look forward to.

What’s Next for Carnival Horizon?

At the beginning of March at the earliest, the crew members will begin to arrive at the Maghera shipyard in Italy. From that point, more crew will start arriving every day from other Carnival ships and from vacation in their home countries. It really depends on the department and how much time is needed for the ship’s crew to get their areas ready for the first guests in April.

It will be an exciting time for crew members and staff as setting up a new cruise ship is a major thing, it is hard work but also an experience like no other. team members will spend time in the local restaurants and often the crew of a new ship will bond better than on another ship which is already in service.

Just like Carnival Vista, the new ship will have the Skyride on the top deck with ocean views and an IMAX Theater. New fleet first features for Carnival Horizon includes Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse|Brewhouse in partnership with Guy Fieri and offering new craft beers, a dedicated Bonsai Teppanyaki venue, and a Dr. Seuss Water Park.
