The Carnival Fantasy has been damaged during her passage through the Panama Canal locks on Friday.

Carnival Cruise Ship Has Damage

Carnival Fantasy which is currently the oldest ship in the fleet was damaged on Friday during a transition through the Panama Canal locks. Carnival Cruise Line has stated that the ship came into contact with one of the locks while the water levels were being lowered. Thankfully there were no injuries during the accident.

At the time, the Carnival cruise ship was not under her own power and was being assisted by the Panama Canal train. The damage was limited to areas of Lido Restaurant and Adults only Serenity area located on deck 9 and deck 10 aft with broken glass and handrails. With this part of the ship being damaged, it would not impact the sailing and seaworthiness of the ship.

Carnival Fantasy is currently sailing a 10-day Pana Canal cruise which departed Mobile, Alabama on September 16. In addition to sailing through the Panama Canal, the ship is calling at Puerto Limon today, Roatan Island on September 23 and then Cozumel on September 24 before arriving back at her homeport on September 26.
