Carnival Cruise Line has been named St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s ‘Corporate Partner of the Year’ thanks to the cruise line’s fundraising activities. The Miami-based cruise line has raised millions over the past eight years for the hospital.
Carnival Cruise Line is Corporate Partner of the Year
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has been a partner with Carnival for the past eight years and due to all the events and the cruise line has done to raise funds it has been recognized. Carnival has in total raised over $16 Million since first partnering with St. Judes in 2010.
Christine Duffy who is the president of Carnival Cruise Line accepted the award from Richard Shadyac, Jr., president and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Carnival President Christine Duffy, said:
“St. Jude is an organization very near and dear to our hearts and to be recognized as their ‘Corporate Partner of the Year’ is a truly wonderful honor and a testament to the support and dedication of our more than 40,000 employees.”
“We will continue to look for even more ways to support the hospital in their fight against childhood cancer.”
Often on Cruise Hive, we’ve posted about certain events held by the cruise line to help fund money. Also, there have been ways to donate on all Carnival cruise ships including the purchase of special t-shirts over the years. More efforts have included the Groove for St. Jude shipboard dance activity and the sale of sweets on board. The line also engages its guests in its St. Jude fundraising efforts through the annual Thanks and Giving campaign at its U.S. embarkation ports, doubling monies raised over the past two years.
More recently St. Judes was featured on the new flagship Carnival Horizon with different artworks being displayed on the ships main atrium LED sculpture. 33 St. Jude patients were involved in making the artwork and there was an important focus on this during the ships christening ceremony held in New York.
This is great work by Carnival and we look forward to even more events helping the kids of St. Judes.
