Is Carnival Cruise Line returning to Mobile, Alabama? Well according to the Mayor of Mobile and local reports it is going to happen.
The Mayor of Mobile posted a photo of himself on Twitter standing outside Carnival headquarters in Miami, Florida earlier today (Sept 3). With a big smile on his face we’re pretty sure that an agreement has already been made between Mobile and Carnival Cruise Line. It could now just be a matter of time when an announcement will be made including which lucky carnival ship will sail from the port.

After the Mayor posted his photo tons of locals and beyond have been hoping that the news is true. According to one local news site its more likely to be seasonal cruises only. Mobile, Alabama will have to offer good incentives for Carnival to make a return to the Alabama Cruise Terminal.
Carnival Elation was the last ship to call at the Port of Mobile in 2011. The port was a popular choice with cruisers in the region for Caribbean sailings but with a lack of profit for the cruise line a decision was made to leave. Carnival Triumph also docked at the port in early 2014 for over a month after being stranded at sea.
The Mayor is expected to make a brief announcement on the meeting with Carnival and more news may follow. Cruise hive will update this post once we know more.
