Due to coronavirus spreading across the world and impacting the cruise industry Carnival Cruise Line has now implemented updated screening protocols.
Carnival Begins Tighter Health Measures
In light of the COVID-19 virus impacting the cruise industry, Carnival Cruise Line has updated its screening protocols to help protect guests and crew even further.
The new measures include extra screening at the terminals before embarkation, sanitation onboard cruise ships, tips for passengers on staying protected during their vacation at sea and more. You can see all the details right here.
Extra screening protocols at the terminal have been coming much tighter with guests and crew members who have traveled through China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Italy, Iran, Japan or Singapore in the past 20 days not allowed to sail. This much stricter from the 14-day protocols previously implemented.
There are also further screenings and health checks for guests and crew who have traveled through or from Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan in the last 20 days. The cruise line is taking temperature checks of everyone who embarks the vessel no matter where they are from. Things such as medical questionnaires, medical evaluations and more will all be done during the process.
Not just the cruise ships will be sanitized but also the cruise terminal before turnaround day, buses which transport guests and crew will be sanitized along with extra hand wash at cruise facilities.
Carnival is warning guests that there could be further itinerary changes due to cruise destinations implementing their own restrictions. These situations are out of Carnival’s control as countries try to keep their citizens safe. We’ve already seen this as recently as yesterday when Grand Turk in the Turks & Caicos Islands blocked the Carnival Magic from disembarking guests due to some having the common flu. These countries have fears that cruise ships with thousands of passengers onboard could bring the deadly COVID-19 to their shores.
Carnival Cruise Line continues to work through issues and will make changes accordingly. The cruise line has also recently updated its cancellation policy to provide less fear for those who have already or plan to book a cruise vacation.

As of writing this, the deadly coronavirus has infected more than 101,400 people around the world and 300 of those are in the United States. The virus has killed more than 3,400 with the majority in mainland China.
