Carnival Cruise Line has held a ceremony with the two St. Thomas heroes who saved a young guest who fell from the pier.
Two Heroes Recognized Aboard Carnival Fascination
Two local entertainers from St. Thomas have been recognized during a ceremony held aboard the Carnival Fascination on Monday, August 19 by Captain Candeloro Donato.
Randolph Donovan and Kashief Hamilton from St. Thomas both came to the rescue of a young cruiser from the Carnival cruise ship during a port of call at the popular US Virgin Island cruise port on August 12. You can read our original news post right here.
The young cruiser was sitting in her wheelchair when she accidentally fell off the pier. It occurred just meters away from the ship’s gangway and she was in the water between the dock and near the ship’s bow. The two men jumped into the water with Randolph Donovan putting a life ring around her and then Kuntry Hamilton who is a local DJ strapping rope around them both so they could be pulled back up. It was all caught on camera and posted on social media:
Ship security and medical staff were also on hand once the girl was pulled to safety and was taken back to the Carnival Fascination. Local port workers were also involved in helping out. Dozens of passengers were watching in shock but then cheered as it ended up being a joyful occasion and relief.
We are also happy to report that the guest did not receive any injuries and managed to continue enjoying a Caribbean cruise vacation. The two heroes who jumped into to save her were awarded when they were invited to the cruise ship and local St. Thomas officials were also there.
Their amazing rescue has gone viral and just shows how good this world can actually be. Carnival Cruise Line has said thank you to them on behalf of the entire Carnival cruise family.
