Carnival Cruise Line has announced that the current room service menu is changing. Free options will no longer be available apart from breakfast starting from mid-January 2019.
Carnival Removes Complimentary Room Service
Carnival has decided to make a huge change to the room service menu across the entire fleet. From mid-January, a new menu will begin to roll out and once it does guests will have to pay for everything apart from breakfast.
The new a la carte room service menu will have basic charges ranging from $2 to $5 per item. The charges will apply to lunch, dinner and late-night items. You can take a look at the new menu below:
Enjoying breakfast while enjoying stunning ocean views from the balcony is still important to Carnival so the continental breakfast option will continue to be complimentary. It will be the only free option on the new menu which will soon be on all Carnival cruise ships starting from the middle of this month.
The cruise line is pushing on reducing food waste which is the main reason for introducing the new a la carte menu. This will hopefully stop guests from over ordering and leaving behind leftovers. It will also help reduce overall food consumption onboard.
Currently, guests can enjoy a menu which offers a range of complimentary items and items with a small charge. From 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM the menu offer a variety of salads, sandwiches, and desserts which are complimentary. From 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM the menu already has a wide range of items for a fee ranging from $2 to $6. The free continental breakfast is offered between 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Even though guests will soon have to pay for almost everything on the 24-hour room service menu they are still expected to tip the hard working crew member who has to carry the tray of items to the stateroom.
