Carnival Cruise Line Crew Member Wins Best Bartender!

Carnival Cruise Line crew member Sanja Cvijetic has won this years BACARDÍ Legacy Cruise Competition by coming out on top over 2,000 other bartenders.

Well done to Sanja Cvijetic for winning the 2019 BACARDÍ Legacy Cruise Competition which was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The 31-year-old crew member from Bosnia who is a Carnival mixologist was up against over 2,000 other bartenders from the major cruise lines across the industry.

The annual competition is iconic for bartenders across the industry which they have to come up with the best cocktail that can rival Barcardi classics. The was actually Sanja’s first time at the competition which is a great accomplishment. She is currently on the Carnival Conquest so if you want to order a cocktail from the best in the industry then you know which cruise ship to book!

Carnival has released the ingredients for the winning cocktail which is named Purple Sunset. The signature cocktail is a mix of Bacardí Superior, Monin Lavender Syrup, lemonade, fresh lime juice, MARTINI Prosecco and fresh rosemary.

Purple Sunset


  • 60ml BACARDÍ Superior
  • 22ml Monin® Lavender Syrup
  • 15ml lemonade
  • 15ml fresh lime juice
  • Splash of MARTINI Prosecco®
  • Fresh rosemary bunch

Preparation Method:

  • Gently muddle fresh rosemary bunch
  • Place all ingredients (except MARTINI Prosecco) into shaker
  • Add ice, and shake 10 seconds
  • Double strain into a chilled glass
  • Add a few more drops of lavender syrup and a splash of MARTINI Prosecco
  • Garnish with fresh rosemary

By winning the competition Sanja Cvijetic received $4,000 cash award and an etched trophy. But it gets better as she has now earned a place in Bacardí’s global finals this May in Amsterdam. She will be up against 38 domestic market winners for the ultimate title.
