Carnival’s popular AirShip is kicking off a month-long tour of the U.S. northeast including an appearance for the Carnival Sunrise naming ceremony in New York.
Carnival Blimp New York Tour
The Carnival #ChooseFun AirShip is to continue touring parts of the United States and this time the blimp will head to the east coast. The blimp will spend a month touring the New York boroughs along with New Jersey and Philadelphia.
The blimp will begin its month-long tour by making an appearance at the Carnival Sunrise naming ceremony at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal on May 23. The ship recently made its debut from Norfolk, Virginia after a huge multi-million transformation from the Carnival Triumph. You can read more about the naming ceremony right here.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said:
“Seeing how successful our West Coast journey was earlier this year, we knew we had to get the East Coast in on the fun.”
“We plan to do New York in a big way this summer as we take the region by sea and air with summer sailings of the beautiful Carnival Sunrise and AirShip enticing fun seekers to Choose Fun with a Carnival cruise.”
The Carnival blimp has already completed a long tour of the U.S. west coast in anticipation of Carnival Panorama’s arrival this December. It has also complete a tour of the U.S. southeast including major cruise homeports in Florida.
During its first week in New York, the AirShip will visit Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. It will then head to Fire Island, Coney Island and Staten Island for Memorial Day weekend along with another week over Long Island. In early June it will be above the skies of New Jersey and then finally The Bronx and Brooklyn.
Beginning from May 23 Carnival Cruise Line will launch the sweepstakes with the chance to win a free cruise or cash gift cards. This is part of the #ChooseFun promotion which includes fundraising for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Those who capture a photo of the Carnival Airship during its tour just need to post on social media using the hashtag for the chance to win. The cruise line will also donate $10 for every post.
