Arnold Donald, who is the CEO of the Carnival Corporation, has cleared things up during a two-part interview with Porthole Cruise Magazine‘s Editor-in-chief Bill Panoff. Donald responds to how the cruise company is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and what’s ahead as cruises start to come back.
He clears many things up including the taxes the company pays after many questions on this matter, he confirms if Carnival did actually have any kind of bailout from the United States, and how the company reacted when the virus first started spreading.
It makes an interesting watch as he is one of the most important figures in the entire industry and runs the largest cruise and travel company in the world. You can watch part one of the interview below:
Donald spent some time talking to leaders of some Caribbean nations about how the pandemic has impacted them. Everyone is hoping that cruises will begin again in the Caribbean not just for the economy but also a sign that things are returning with some normality.

Donald touched on the delayed new Mardi Gras cruise ship which is currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. At the moment Carnival Cruise Line is planning on starting cruises for the vessel from November 14 but there is a possibility it could be delayed further.
Carnival Corporation has nine cruise brands around the world, including Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Costa Cruises, P&O Cruises, Seabourn, Aida Cruises, Cunard Line, and P&O Australia. The brands are working hard on repatriating crew members and putting vessels in a cold layup until cruises resume.
