Huge Amount of Supplies Collected by Carnival

Carnival which owns nine cruise brands has collected and delivered a total of 2,841 tons of food supplies for its hurricane relief efforts for the Bahamas in the first week. The much-needed aid was used to deliver in 90 shipping containers and delivered to Freeport on Grand Bahama Island in partnership with Tropical Shipping.

Roger Frizzell, chief communications officer for Carnival Corporation, said:

“The outpouring of support for our friends in the Bahamas has been so touching, and so many people and organizations have stepped up asking how they can get involved.”

“We want to publicly thank everyone who has made donations for their efforts, support and genuine concern for our friends and neighbors in The Bahamas. Through our partnership with Tropical Shipping, we are able to ship much-needed supplies directly to The Bahamas National Emergency Management Agency in Freeport for distribution to the thousands of Bahamians lacking food, water and life’s most essential needs. The response has been inspiring, and we cannot thank everyone enough.”

The company has been collecting supplies ever since hurricane Dorian devasted Grand Bahama Island and the Abaco Islands in early September. Carnival has been working with partners to make donations possible not just across Florida but all of North America too. There have also been many anonymous donors. Deliveries have included medical supplies, water, food, cots, tents, wheelbarrows, shovels, chainsaws, generators, appliances, clothing, and other essentials.
