Caribbean Princess To Receive A Major Refurbishment

Caribbean Princess is scheduled to undergo a major multi-million refurbishment in Freeport Bahamas and will emerge fresh for the season ahead.

Princess Cruises will be putting the Caribbean Princess through a major dry dock in Freeport. The huge renovation will begin on March 26 and will last for two weeks. On April 6 the vessel will emerge with new enhancements for guests to enjoy.

Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises, said:

“With new amenities catering to families, Caribbean Princess not only provides comfort and technology to stay connected but enriching experiences that can be shared together as a family or in our new Camp Discovery Youth & Teen Center – all renovated with the goal of helping our guests create lifelong memories.”

What Is Being Done

During the dry dock the vessel will bet some new features and upgrades. One of the main parts will be the newly imagined “Camp Discovery,” a new space for kids aged 7-17 years old. There will be three sections of the new program including The Treehouse for ages 3-7 (formerly Pelicans), The Lodge for , ages 8-12 (formerly Shockwaves) and The Beach House, for ages 13-17 (formerly Remix).

With family travelers in mind, Caribbean Princess debuts 87 interconnecting staterooms, offering more room and comfort for all family members to enjoy. To go along with improving staterooms, the famous Princess Luxury Bed will be installed in all rooms so guests can have the best sleep ever.

A new HD Movies Under the Stars outdoor movie screen will offer a higher resolution picture with double the image quality of previous systems. Guests will enjoy lively concerts and hit blockbuster movies with more sound power, truer color, extreme wide angle viewing and smart contrast/brightness for optimal viewing any time of day.

After The Upgrade

Once complete, the newly refurbished Caribbean princess will sail a transatlantic cruise towards Europe on April 6. The vessel will spend a season sailing in Europe and the British Isles before heading back over the Atlantic in October for Panama cruises.

Caribbean Princess is a 113,000 gross ton ship and can carry over 3,000 passengers at double occupancy.
