Boy Dies After Drowning in Cruise Ship Swimming Pool

We are sad to report that a 10-year-old boy has died after drowning in the swimming pool of the Genting Dream cruise ship.

Tragic news is coming from Asia as a young 10-year-old boy has passed away after drowning in the swimming pool on the Genting Dream which is operated by Dream Cruises.

According to local news, the boy who is from Singapore was found in the pool when the large cruise ship was docked in Langkawi, Malaysia on Monday. Police have said that they received a call at 7:30 PM that day of a drowning incident involving a child.

The medical team on board did attend the boy and immediately started resuscitation assistance but sadly it was not successful.

The police have launched an investigation into how this happened and taking statements from witnesses onboard. It is not known how this occurred just yet but surely is a difficult time for the boy’s mother who he was cruising with.

The Genting Dream cruise ship had arrived at Langkawi which is located in the south during the voyage. The ship was scheduled to depart to Phuket, Thailand and did so at around 10:30 PM.

Dream Cruises has sent out condolences to the boy’s loved ones and is providing assistance to the family and the police investigation. Our thoughts also go out to the boy’s family during this very difficult time.

The vessel which was built at the popular Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany is 151,500 gross tons with a guest capacity of over 3,300. The ship is based out of Singapore and offers cruises to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
