Norwegian Getaway Christened In Miami, Florida

The newest cruise ship in the world Norwegian Getaway has finally been christened in Miami on Friday. The NCL operated ship arrived into PortMiami on Thursday for the very first time where it was welcomed by several tug boats firing water which is traditional. Passengers Stage Protest After Costa Victoria Skips Vietnam Port

It's being reported that the Costa Victoria cruise ship which is operated by Costa Cruises had a passenger protest on Thursday due to the ship missing a port of call in Vietnam. The port in question was Halong Bay and the ship was unable to dock because of a sunken barge according to the Hong Kong Standard. About 300 guests had refused to disembark the vessel once it arrived back in Hong Kongs Victoria harbor. The protest lasted 17 hours. New Holland America Alcoholic Beverage Policy Now Underway

Holland America lines new Alcohol policy is now in action since it came into force on January 31st 2014. Passengers boarding any Holland America ship on embarkation can now bring more than one bottle of alcohol but will be charged a fee. Port Everglades Cruise Terminal Expansion Begins In Spring

Port Everglades has announced plans to expand its current cruise terminal 4 which will begin this Spring. Terminal 4 will be upgraded and improved to bring a modern new facility to the port. The modernization is set to be completed in time for the 2015 cruise season. Work will begin in mid March 2014 but it;s not just the terminal which will be improved. Steel Cut For New Holland America Pinnacle Cruise Ship

The first steel has been cut for Holland America Lines upcoming Pinnacle Class cruise ship. The cutting started on Tuesday which begins a new phase in the unnamed ships construction. There was a ceremony when the steel was cut at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy. One Boy Has Drowned And Another Airlifted From Norwegian Breakaway

Updated - 20:10 GMT It's being reported that a young 4 year old boy has drowned on board the Norwegian Breakaway cruise ship. Another 6 year old boy has been airlifted to Hospital  from the ship on the morning of 3rd January. The older boy was taken to the Carolina East Medical Center based in New Bern, North Carolina. It's understood that he was later moved to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville which is in the same region. The boy is now thankfully in a stable condition according to WNCT. Carnival Cruise Lines Announces Record Cruise Sales

Today Carnival Cruise Lines has announced record sales in cruise bookings in a one month period. The month of January was a record month with over 565,000 guests cruising which beats the cruise lines previous 2013 January. "Now is the time of year when many people focus on their upcoming vacation plans and the cruise industry typically sees an escalation in booking activity.  We are definitely observing a strong uptick in reservations with bookings coming in at unprecedented levels,” said Jerry Cahill, Carnival CEO.
