Viking Cruises has taken an option with Fincantieri to order another two new ocean cruise ships.
Viking Cruises which is well known for River Cruises is expanding its ocean Cruise fleet even further. The luxury cruise line has taken an option with Fincantieri to go ahead with the order of two more vessels.
The two new ships now on order will be the ninth and tenth ship joining the fleet in 2022 and 2023 and just all the ships before them they will be 47,800 gross tons carrying 930 guests in 465 staterooms.
This news comes off the new addition to the fleet Viking Sun. The Viking luxury cruise ship recently began service after joining in September 2017. Viking Sun also departed on its; inaugural world cruise from Miami to London on December 15, 2017.
The newly ordered ships were part of an option when Viking originally ordered the seventh and eighth ships from Fincantieri. All vessels so far ordered by the cruise line are identical and follow the class from the original Viking Star which entered service as the first cruise ship for Viking in 2015.
Viking Ocean Cruises now has new ships coming in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023. The cruise line already has Viking Star which arrived in 2015, Viking Sea in 2016 and then in 2017 two ships joined the fleet named Viking Sky and Viking Sun.
