For the first time, Allure of the Seas will homeport out of Galveston, Texas, starting in November 2022. not just that, but the Oasis-class cruise ship will sail from Royal Caribbean’s brand new cruise terminal at the port.
Oasis-Class from Galveston
Royal Caribbean has announced that one of its largest cruise ships in the world will homeport out of Galveston, Texas, from November 2022. The Oasis-class vessel will sail 7-night Western Caribbean itineraries from the popular cruise port.
Allure of the Seas will make calls to Roatan, Honduras, as well as Cozumel and Costa Maya. The first voyage will depart on November 27, 2022, and the final 7-day cruise will depart on April 23, 2023. The ship will be based from Galveston on a seasonal basis for the cruise line’s 2022-23 winter season.
The news of Allure of the Seas homeporting out of Galveston came as no surprise as it was already expected. Just yesterday, a Port of Galveston Wharves meeting took place confirming the Royal Caribbean cruise ship’s arrival in 2022.
New Royal Caribbean Terminal
What’s also exciting about this announcement is that by the time Allure of the Seas starts sailing from Galveston, the new terminal will be completed. Back in 2019, Royal Caribbean did already announce the ship would be sailing out of its new terminal at the port. However, things have changed since then, and construction was delayed.
In an update released in June 2020 Royal Caribbean stated:
Due to the global pandemic’s unprecedented impact on the cruise and travel industry, Royal Caribbean and the Port of Galveston have agreed to postpone the development and opening of the destination’s new, $100 million cruise terminal. Based on adjusted plans and timelines, the terminal is now scheduled to be completed in October 2022.
Construction on the new state-of-the-art terminal will finally begin in April 2021 and be completed just in time for Allure’s arrival in fall 2022. The two-story facility is costing $100 million with a total of 170,000 square feet.
The terminal will be located on 10 acres of land in the eastern section of the port known as Pier 10. The facility will be able to handle the largest cruise ships in the world, including such as the Oasis-class.
There will be mobile check-in and facial recognition to expedite guest arrival, which will undoubtedly be essential for these times. As part of the development, there will also be a staging and loading area, bus and taxi staging areas, and substantial parking will be constructed.

Allure of the Seas will be the largest ever cruise ship to homeport out of Galveston and is going to be a hugely popular choice for many cruisers. She offers zip lines, FlowRider surf simulators, open-air AquaTheater, and loads more.
