3 Cruise Ship Passengers Injured After Jeep Accident

3 cruise passengers were injured on Tuesday, August 16 after a Safari vehicle accident.

The site reports during an Island Safari Tour on the Caribbean island of Antigua a total of nine tourists were injured. According to an anonymous source, the vehicle apparently was trying to overtake a tractor but then swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle. As a result, the jeep overturned on Valley Road.

Six tourists from the United States and three from Germany were taken to a local medical center for further treatment. Thankfully none of the injuries were life-threatening with only one cruise ship tourist who suffered a serious facial injury.

The three cruise passengers were from Adventure of the Seas which is a 138,000 gross ton ship carrying over 3,100 passengers at double occupancy. The Royal Caribbean ship was sailing a 7-night Southern Caribbean cruise at the time out of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The tour was done by Tropical Adventures, a popular tour company on the island. It’s not clear if this was booked via the cruise line or independently. This is just the latest in many island vehicle accidents that have involved cruise tourists. In May Cruise Hive reported 2 cruise passengers injured after driving a local buggy in Cozumel went wrong. In April a tragedy occurred after 2 Carnival guests died in Cozumel due to a moped accident.
