Carnival Hurricane Supplies on Way to Freeport

The Carnival Pride has departed and the Carnival Liberty about to depart with hurricane Dorian relief supplies for the Bahamas. Both ships will make visits to Freeport which is located on the devastated Grand Bahama Island.

The cruise line will assist the residents of the island with Carnival Liberty visiting on September 12 and Carnival Pride on September 13. They are the first Carnival ships to the island since Dorian hit early last week.

The ships will deliver dozens of pallets with water, generators, chain saws, medical supplies and more. Also already loaded on the vessels are prepared meals for the residents. This follows in the foot septs of Royal Caribbean which has been in full relief mode by delivering 20,000 meals daily. Photos have been released by the cruise line of the supplies being loaded:

Carnival Pride loaded supplies while docked in Baltimore, Maryland on September 8. The Spirit-class ship will sail to the Hurricane hit island as part of its 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise. The ship will also return to Carnival’s private island Half Moon Cay on September 12.

Carnival Liberty loaded hurricane relief supplies at Port Canaveral, Florida and is departing its homeport today. The Conquest-class vessel is sailing a 4-day Bahamas cruise which also includes a call to Nassau, Bahamas.

The Miami-based cruise line will be sending even more aid to the Bahamas as more ships in the fleet visit Freeport. Carnival’s parent company has launched a huge relief program across all its cruise brands. The company has pledged $1 million for the Bahamas along with another $1 million from the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation.
