Ovation of the Seas Construction Milestone Reached

Ovation of the Seas

Ovation of the Seas which is Royal Caribbean third Quantum class vessel has reached a key milestone during its construction.

The first block was lowered into place which is the first of many more blocks that will become finally become Ovation of the Seas. When the keel was placed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany newly minted coins were placed underneath which then stay in place until the end of construction. According to maritime tradition, the coins are said to bring luck to the ship during its construction and then to its Captain and crew when she is at sea.

The coin ceremony was attended by shipyard and Royal Caribbean executives as the build up begins. ovation of the Seas will be the sister ships to Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas. Meanwhile Anthem of the Seas is preparing for its debut in Southampton, UK and has only just departed the Meyer Werft shipyard.

Ovation of the Seas will be innovative and technically advanced at 167,800 gross tons and carrying 4,180 guests at double occupancy. The ship is scheduled to debut in autumn 2016.
