A major construction milestone was made today at the Italian shipyard for the upcoming Carnival Vista.
Carnival Vista has just 11 months to go until it departs on its maiden voyage. To celebrate the construction milestone a ceremony was held at the Fincantieri Monfalcone shipyard in Italy where a coin was welded to the mast. The coin welding is a traditional Italian ceremony for new ships and it completes the Carnival Vista external fitting.
It’s common to have a celebrity godmother attend the coin event but this time it wasn’t just any celebrity! Carnival’s senior cruise director, John Heald attended with his six-year-old daughter, Kye Heald. Kye is now Carnival Vista’s “godchild” and with videos posted by the Heald’s on Facebook she couldn’t be more excited.
The Carnival Vista is the cruise line’s largest ship so far at 133,500 gross tons. the new ship will bring some new onboard features including an industry first IMAX theatre at sea and the SkyRide that suspends over the ships sports zone and with ocean views. There will be all the very latest FUN 2.0 spaces along with some new innovative public lounges including the Havana Bar.
I’ve been given the very noble and distinct honour of escorting the goddaughter of the Carnival Vista to tomorrow’s big event at the shipyard, and that is the Coin Ceremony – and if any of you are playing catch-up and want to know exactly what it is I’m referring to, then watch the video here.Watch More:https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10153165725169584&set=vb.6067784583&type=2&theater
