Norwegian Cruise Line is switching a ship due to
sail from Dover next summer to New York. The ship Norwegian Jewel will be
replaced by 1,936-passenger Norwegian Sun operating a series of 11 12-night
Baltic Capitals departures from the Kent port from May 11, 2010.
Norwegian Jewel is being redeployed to run
seven-day Bahamas and Florida, 10-day Canada and New England and 10-day Eastern
Caribbean sailings between April 24, 2010 and April 24, 2011. Norwegian Sun is
moving from Alaska to operate the Dover departures.
NCL said it was contacting travel agents and
passengers with bookings on Norwegian Jewel and Norwegian Sun’s previously
scheduled sailings. The company is offering the option to transfer their
reservation to a comparable sailing with their fare protected or re-priced if
the fare is lower, along with an onboard credit. Transfers must be completed by
May 11. Agents and passengers have been advised that they can reach NCL on 020
7591 8007 for assistance.
UK general manager Stephen Park said: “Our customer
feedback tells us Norwegian Sun has been a big hit with UK guests in Alaska and
we look forward to introducing her to even more customers when she begins her
ex-UK programme.”
