There have been reports from Italian Media that Carnival Corporation are possibly about to order the largest amount of cruise ships ever at one time.

The site is reporting that the Cruise Company which owns many large cruise lines could be ordering 10 new cruise ships to be built! yes folks you read that correctly, that’s 10! Apparently 5 vessel will be built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and 5 ships by Meyer Werft which is a popular German shipbuilding company. Orders could keep the shipyards busy until 2028.

The ships will no doubt be split between several cruise lines that the company owns including Costa Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, P&O Cruises, Cunard Line and several others in Europe. One of the new ships to be built could be at least 170,000 gross tons making it the largest vessel ever ordered by Carnival. The ship could be built for Costa Cruises but this is not yet confirmed.

Carnival are planning on increasing its presence in the growing cruise market of Asia that includes the world’s most populous country, China. Royal Caribbean are already beating Carnival by having more investments and cruise ships based in the region. If Carnival are to keep the crown as the worlds largest cruise line the fight will have to be taken to Royal Caribbean and the only way to do this is come up with large innovative cruise ships.

Carnival could be making the official announcement very soon so Cruise Hive will keep readers informed.
